A Sligo Leitrim TD is calling on the Minister for Justice and Minister for Health to co-operate on a vaccine programme for staff and prisoners within the Irish penal system.
The Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice and equality, Martin Kenny TD has expressed his shock that only two % of the prison population have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Deputy Kenny says Prisoners circumstances make them particularly vulnerable in comparison to the general population. He added that the age-related progress of the vaccination programme should not apply to those working in prison or prison inmates.
