Sligo County Council says it would still like to start some work on O'Connell Street in Sligo town this year despite the enhancement work being delayed by a number of months.
The Council confirmed yesterday that the long-awaited work which was set to start this summer has been postponed for a number of months.
It's to consider further recommendations from a new report which could result in an even better streetscape design.
Director of Services Tom Kilfeather says in light of Sligo's new status as a 'Regional Hub' it's important they get it right and he is reassuring businesses that they will be kept up to date every step of the way:
