Longest surviving lung transplant patient from Donegal has died

Ireland's longest surviving double lung transplant patient who is from Donegal has passed away.

Brendan McLaughlin from Stranorlar, had a double lung transplant after nine weeks on a life-support machine.

He was originally transplanted in Newcastle, England on the 11th of August, 1992.

Mr McLoughlin was born with cystic fibrosis, an incurable genetic condition which meant breathing was a struggle all his life.
