Nine Fine Gael members in Sligo/Leitrim are seeking the party's nomination to run as Dail candidates in the next general election.
At the close of nominations yesterday (Friday) evening, the nine included Eddie Mitchell, from Manorhamilton, who was prominent in the Love Leitrim anti-fracking campaign.
A nomination was NOT received from former Leitrim councillor John McCartin.
The number of candidates who will actually be chosen to run will not be known until just before the Fine Gael constituency selection convention on July 19th in Sligo, as party regional organiser Enda McGloin has been telling Ocean FM News:
