People in parts of County Donegal may see a low-flying plane over the coming days and weeks and wonder what is going on.
It's part of an airbourne geological survey called Tellus.
The plane, based at Sligo Airport, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Dr James Hodgson, geophysics manager for Tellus, says that by the end of this year, they expect to have 50% of Ireland surveyed, the data helping to better understand the local environment, soil managemant and natural resource potential.
Tellus is led by the Geological Survey Ireland and funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and the Environment.
