Lowest median annual earnings recorded in Donegal

Donegal recorded the lowest median annual earnings nationally last year.

Figures published by the Central Statistics Office show that the average median annual earning in the county was just over €35,000.

€40,500 was the median annual earning in Sligo in 2023 while the figure in Leitrim was €39,000.

Those aged 40-49 were the highest earners in Sligo and Donegal while 30–39-year-olds earned the highest salaries in Leitrim.

Dublin had the highest median ­annual earnings last year, at €47,800, 11 per cent higher than the average across the state- €43,221.
