A Sligo TD says elderly people are suffering because of delays with the Fair Deal Scheme.
Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry says the scheme remains in crisis as the Government is failing to press ahead with a pricing agreement.
Under the scheme people make a contribution to the cost of their care, based on their means and the State will pay the rest.
It understood families across the region are being forced to privately fund nursing home care for their loved ones due to delays with the scheme.

Deputy MacSharry says families have been contacting his office frustrated with the back-log.
