The Fianna Fail cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council is calling on the Fine Gael councillors and Independent Alliance Councillor Marie Casserly to vote to pass the council's budget for the coming year when they meet next Monday evening.
That's despite Fianna Fail having formed a Pact after the local election with other councillors, including those from Sinn Fein, Independents and People Before Profit.
The Pact gave that group the majority on the council -- and a shareout of various positions -- despite Fine Gael having returned the largest number of councillors after the election.
However, it appears the Pact did not oblige the Sinn Fein, Independents and People Before Profit councillors to support Fianna Fail's proposal to adopt the budget.
Council Cathaoirleach Tom MacSharry is now calling on Fine Gael and Councillor Casserly to support the council budget which, Cllr MacSharry says, would result in no increase in rates for businesses throughout the county in the coming year.

But Cllr Casserly says it's now up to those councillors who came together to form the majority Pact on the council to pass the budget.
