A Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD isn't ruling out an arrangement with Fine Gael when it comes to forming a new government.

Either Seán O'Feargháil or Denis Naughten will be elected as Ceann Comhairle today when the 33rd Dáil meets for the first time.

It's unlikely that a Taoiseach will be elected later because of the political deadlock.

The Dáil will adjourn this evening, likely for two weeks, in which time all parties will hope to make progress on forming a government.

Outgoing Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe has urged Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin to sort it out between themselves:

But Deputy Marc MacSharry says there could eventually be a government involving Fianna Fail and Fine Gael.
