A Sligo Leitrim TD is urging the family living in the Connaughton road carpark in Sligo town to engage with the authorities and move from the carpark.
Speaking on North West Today, Fianna Fail TD Marc MacSharry said that this issue has been going on since 1989.
He says while a resolution should have been found sooner, three offers of alternative accomodation have been made by the Council and turned down.
He's urging them to engage with the Council and move to a more suitable location.

He denies that this issue has anything to do with the family being from the traveller community - he says we all need to abide by the same rules:
