Major shortage of child minding facilities in North Leitrim

The lack of childcare facilities in the Manorhamilton and the north Leitrim area is proving to be a major issue for many families as workers return to offices with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

Local Councillor Felim Gurn has tabled a motion on the issue for next Monday's meeting of the Manorhamilton MD of Leitrim Council.

He says that the crisis is being caused by strict regulations and ever-increasing costs that are involved when it comes to working in the sector.

Cllr Gurn says it's a cause of major distress for many people that are returning to work and are finding it impossible to secure child minding facilities.
