Man arrested in Sligo after confronting security office with a weapon

A man was arrested in Sligo Town yesterday after a security officer was confronted by a male wielding a weapon.

Sligo Gardaí confronted the male and subsequently arrested him.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

The male was brought in custody to Ballymote Garda station and charged with a number of offences including possession of a knife and being intoxicated in a public place.

The suspect was brought to a sitting of the District Court and has been released on bail to attend the District Court again in the near future.
