A man who was arrested in connection with the attack on Tom Niland in his home in Skreen has been released.
Gardaí arrested the man in his 60s yesterday in relation to the aggravated burglary which happened on the 18th January 2022.

The man was released last night without charge and a file is to be sent to the DPP.
Mr. Niland died in hospital in September - 20 months after being violently assaulted in his home.

The 75 year old had been in hospital since the aggravated burglary - he never recovered from the injuries sustained in the attack.
Three other men have been charged in relation to this incident and have appeared before the courts.
Gardai say that investigations are ongoing.
