Man charged with Ballyshannon assault

A man in his 50s has been charged in relation to a serious assault of another man in south Donegal.

The incident happened in the Ballyshannon in the early hours of Friday morning.

Gardai received a report of a serious assault at a residence in Ballyshannon at around 1:30am.

A man in his 50s was taken to Sligo University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. It's understood that he remains in critical condition.

Gardaí confirmed that another man in his 50s was arrested following the incident.

He has since been charged and will appeal before the courts.
