An investigation is continuing into a serious assault in South Donegal,
It happened in the Ballyshannon area in the early hours of this morning.
Gardai received a report of a serious assault at a residence in Ballyshannon at around 1:30am this morning.
A man in his 50s was taken to Sligo University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.

Gardaí have also confirmed that another man, also in his 50s was arrested following the incident.
He is being detained at a Garda Station in the North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
