A 31 year old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Donegal woman Danielle McLaughlin in India nearly 8 years ago.
Vikat Bhagat was found guilty last week and was sentenced this morning.
28-year-old Danielle McLaughlin, who grew up in Buncrana in County Donegal, went backpacking in India in February 2017.
She had travelled to Goa in March, where she was raped and murdered by local man Vikat Bhagat.

This morning he was sentenced to life in prison following his guilty verdict on Friday.
Ms McLaughlin's family had travelled to India for the verdict, saying justice had 'finally been achieved' following the verdict.
