The man recovered from the Erne Estuary in Ballyshannon yesterday has died.
The alarm was raised shortly after 12pm when the man was spotted in the water.
The Sligo Coastguard Helicopter 118 along with members of Bundoran lifeboat were involved in the search and rescue operation.
The man in his 20's was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
