A man in his 70s was seriously injured in a shooting in Longford last night.
It happened shortly before 8pm, when a number of shots were fired through the window of a house in a housing estate in the town.
The area has been sealed off and investigations are underway.
The man was taken to Mullingar's Midland Regional Hospital with injuries described as 'serious but not-life threatening'.
