A man in his 60s has died following a shooting in Mayo and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It happened at around five to twelve last night as Gardaí were alerted to a shooting in the Aghamore area of Ballyhaunis.
The scene itself is currently preserved for technical examination, and an incident room has been set up at Claremorris Garda Station.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 80s in connection with the shooting.

He's being held at Castlebar Garda Station where he can be detained for up to 24 hours.
