Mandate says progress made in Tesco industrial dispute

The Mandate Trade Union says positive progress has been made with an industrial relations dispute involving Tesco workers at the Sligo and Carrick on Shannon stores.

Pay, the removal of canteen and break-room facilities and, what members describe as, the breaking of agreements between management and workers were some of the reasons for the disagreement.

The trade union met with members from the Tesco store in Sligo on Monday night and with workers from the Carrick-on-Shannon store last night.

Industrial action has been suspended for the moment and both sides have agreed to refer the issues to the Workplace Relations Commission.
