Opposition to the recent decision by the Minister of Environment Eamon Ryan to grant a prospecting licence to Flintridge Resources for operations in North Leitrim has increased with the decision by the Councillors in the Manorhamilton Municipal District to table a joint motion to oppose the move.
The motion submitted by Councillors Justin Warnock, Sean McDermott, Frank Dolan, Phelim Gurn, Mary Bohan, and Padraig Fallon will be discussed at next Mondays monthly meeting of the local Authority.
Speaking to Ocean FM Cllr Frank Dolan says it's vital that Minister Ryan is aware that there will never be a local support for gold mining in North Leitrim area.
