The Marine Minister is in Killybegs this morning.
Minister Charlie McConalogue is set to host an event to mark the official opening of the new €35 million Smooth Point Quay Extension at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre.

The new Smooth Point Pier extension project in Killybegs involved the completion of a new 125-metre long quay development.
It aims to alleviate congestion during peak season, allow a faster turn-around for vessels, and also provide for additional shelter.

The project work included the construction of a new quay structure, dredging and the re-use of 32,000 tonnes of rock material as backfill material to the new quay and elsewhere in the harbour.
