The Minister for Justice says he recognises the pressure Gardai at Sligo Garda Station are working in.
Charlie Flanagan was given a tour of the station on a visit to Sligo on Friday evening.
He told Ocean FM News that he is doing everything he can to ensure that a new state-of-the-art station is provided and he expects to report progress early next year.
The Minister said he is working closely with OPW Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran to acquire a site.
When questioned by Ocean FM News on whether he recognises the conditions Gardai are forced to work in, this was his response:
