The Minister for Justice will be in north Sligo today to officially open a Spanish Armada Interpretive and Visitor Centre.
It will be located in the Old Courthouse in Grange, just a short distance from Streedagh beach where, in 1588, three Armada ships foundered and over 1,000 Spanish sailors perished.
Eddie O Gorman is chairman of 'Remembering the Armada,' a voluntary local group working to raise awareness of the Armada story in Sligo.
He says they are determined to eventually have a permanent Armada exhibition centre in Grange.
