Minister Harris gives light to explore North West College merger

The minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris has granted permission to St Angela's College Sligo and the IT Sligo to explore the possibility of a merger between the two campuses.

The new merger if successful will act as a major component of the new Technological University that is hoped to be established in the North West between IT Sligo, GMIT and LIT.

The news has been welcomed the Sligo/ Leitrim TD and Minister for state Frank Feighan.

Speaking to Ocean FM news Minister Feighan says students and the north west in general will benefit from the merger.
