Minister Ross to hear vital need for new €1.5m bridge in Donegal

Replacing Fintra bridge will cost in the region of €1.5m.

But Councillors in Donegal are hoping that the Minister for Transport will be open to investing in this important link for people in the Kilcar, Carrick and Glencolmcille areas and for tourists to access Sliabh Liag.

Independent Councillor Niamh Kennedy has finally secured a meeting with the Transport Minister Shane Ross on the 27th of February.

At the moment only one vehicle can access the bridge at a time and it's a particular safety concern during the busy summer months.

Councillor Kennedy says while the cost appears high, alot of the work will involve making the approach roads to the bridge safer:
