Minister says beef prices talks were 'successful' . . . but not all farmers are happy

Talks in the beef dispute have come to a conclusion.

The Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed said progress was made on "important initiatives aimed at improving transparency along the supply chain."

Groups representing farmers and the meat industry agreed on a number of sticking points, such as a review of the grid.

However, many farmers will be disappointed that there is no increase on the main issue of beef prices.

Gerry Pilkington is the Chair of the Sligo Beef Plan Movement he says the eventual outcome to the talks has not satisfied some of farmers key concerns.

The IFA President Joe Healy also thinks that beef farmers will be disappointed with the lack of movement on that issue:
