A Sligo councillor has backed calls made in the Dáil to reopen the Collooney to Claremorris rail line.
Deputy Eamon Ó Cuív raised the issue with Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan, saying that the reopening of the line could provide the longest freight line in the country.
It's thought that Sligo has more potential for rail if only it was utilised:
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Sinn Féin Cllr Thomas Healy supported Deputy Ó Cuív's statements, adding that the line would be of benefit to the North West region on the whole:
