More Third Country Ports for Donegal

A Donegal TD has welcomed the decision taken by the Government to designate more third-country ports in the county.  However he has criticised the fact that it taken until now for more ports to be designated as third county ports.

Independent TD, Thomas Pringle, had urged the Government to designate more third-country ports in Donegal and around the Irish coast now to facilitate Irish fishermen who operate UK-registered vessels.

The Marine Minister and fellow Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue confirmed this  morning that Donegal will have four designated ports for international vessels in two weeks time.

From the start of February fishermen with UK registered vessels will be permitted to land their catch in Killybegs, Greencastle, Burtonport and Rathmullan.
