Motion passed on opposing prospecting licences in Donegal

Donegal County Council is rowing in behind Leitrim County Council over its stance on granting prospecting licences.

Efforts have intensified in Leitrim of late in the fight against any work being carried out in relation to gold and silver mining in the region.

Now the local authority in Donegal has passed a motion, opposing the granting of any such licences in the county.

South Donegal and Sinn Fein Cllr Michael McMahon says it would have a serious effect on Donegal and should not be allowed to proceed:
