A motorist has been arrested for drink driving in Sligo.
Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit were conducting a large checkpoint on the N4 on Saturday morning when the detection was made.

The arrest comes as Gardaí reminded the public that they will be conducting high-visibility patrols, checkpoints, and speed checks over the course of the weekend.
As a result of the checkpoint, a number of other drivers have been fined after being detected speeding.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal to motorists to never drive under the influence of either drink or drugs.
