111km/h in 80km/h zone - Motorist clocked speeding in Sligo

A motorist has been caught speeding at 111km/h in an 80 zone in Riverstown in Sligo - one of the highest detections nationwide yesterday.

The detection was made yesterday as part of a clampdown by GoSafe.

GoSafe monitored over 104,922 vehicles across the road network. 484 drivers were detected for speeding and will be issued with Fixed Charge Notices.

Another notable detection in the North West was in Lifford in Donegal where a motorist was clocked traveling 87km/h in a 60 zone.
