Motorists caught speeding in south Donegal

A number of vehicles have been caught speeding in south Donegal in recent days.

Donegal Town Roads Policing Unit detected one driver travelling at 138KPH in a 100 zone yesterday.

Fixed charge penalty notices will be issued and the drivers will receive 3 penalty points and a fine of €80.

Gardai are reminding people that they will be conducting high visibility checkpoints and speed checks over the course of the weekend

Their focus will be the detection of key lifesaver offences which include speeding, drink/drug driving and the non-wearing of seat-belts
