Ireland needs to diversify our programme for forestry and increase community engagement if we are to meet the 2050 forestry target.
That's according Fianna Fáil TD for Sligo-Leitrim Marc Mac Sharry
Speaking on the issue in the Dáil Deputy Mac Sharry says, “we need to see a change approach to forestry if Ireland is to meet the 18% target for 2050.
Deputy MacSharrry added that In the North West there is justified anger in the approach taken so far.
He says Local communities are being ignored and a disproportionate concentration of Forestry is being permitted in certain areas.
