Labour Party candidate Nessa Cosgrove has been elected to the Seanad’s Labour Vocational panel.
Cosgrove, contesting her first Seanad election, was elected Sligo County Council for the first time in June 2024.
She also contested the 2020 and 2024 General Elections in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.
Senator Cosgrove will be one of eleven members on the Labour Vocational Panel after her vote of 96,778 saw her elected following the 17th count.
Incidentally, Cosgrove’s brother, Shane O’Callaghan, who’s a sitting Councillor in Cork was unsuccessful in his attempt to get elected to the Cultural and Educational panel.
Speaking to Ocean FM, the newly-elected Senator said it was "an honour" to be elected and represent the people of the constituency.
