Labour Party candidate Nessa Cosgrove looks set to be elected to the Seanad’s Labour Vocational panel.
Cosgrove, contesting her first Seanad election, was elected Sligo County Council for the first time in June 2024.
She also contested the 2020 and 2024 General Elections in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.
11 seats are up grabs in the Labour Vocational panel with just five of the eleven sitting senators seeking re-election.
Following the 13th count, her vote of 86,323 looks strong enough for election.
Incidentally, Cosgrove’s brother, Shane O’Callaghan, who’s a sitting Councillor in Cork was unsuccessful in his attempt to get elected to the Cultural and Educational panel.
