Brendan Golden has been elected as the IFA’s Connacht Regional chairperson.
Golden, a native of Killala in Mayo defeated Leitrim’s James Gallagher by 720 votes to 651.
Prior to his election, he held the position of chairperson of the IFA National Livestock Committee for the past four years.
Elsewhere, Francie Gorman has been elected as the association’s president succeeding Tim Cullinan.
While Alice Doyle was elected deputy president, the first woman to achieve that office in IFA history.
Tuesday’s count took place at the Castleknock Hotel in Dublin.
