Eugene Cummins has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Western Development Commission board.
The Western Development Commission is the state agency responsible for the economic and social development of the west of Ireland.

A Galway native, Mr Cummins previously served as Chief Executive for Roscommon and Monaghan County Councils succeeds Gerard Finn in the role.
