No disability access to 16 polling stations in Donegal

A Donegal general election candidate is calling for all polling stations to be accessible to people with disabilities.

Independent Thomas Pringle says inaccessible polling stations are a barrier for people with disabilities who want to exercise their right to vote, which, he insists, is fundamental to democracy.

He says it's unacceptable that a number of polling stations in Donegal are still without proper access.

63 polling stations across the country are inaccessible to wheelchair users.

That's according to research carried out by a disability advocate ahead of next month's general election.

Ciarán Delaney is the author of the survey. He says there are 16 polling stations with access issues in Donegal.
