There were no new homes commenced in Leitrim over the month of May.
New figures published by the Department of Housing revealed the situation, and also showed there were 13 new housing commencement notices in Sligo, and 46 in Donegal last month.

Nationwide there just under 2000 homes commenced in May, which is a drop of 35% when compared with the more than 3000 commenced in May 2023.
However, there were 32,121 units commenced in the first five months of 2024, more than double of the same period of 2023.
