This week's Sligo Drumcliffe MD meeting heard calls for tourism to be developed in north Sligo by incorporating the proposed Yeats International Centre and the planned Drumcliffe visitor facilities in Drumcliffe.
Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy table a motion on the issue and received support from his fellow councillors.
He says that the north Sligo region is a largely untapped source of tourism revenue for the County, with iconic scenery history, beaches and the final resting place of William Butler Yeats among the attractions on offer
Cllr Healy says the challenge now is tourism officials is to keep visitors in Sligo for longer and generating revenue for local businesses,
