Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are among the counties with the biggest rise in house prices in the year to January.
Nationally, the rate at which prices are rising eased slightly in the year to January.
They increased by 8 point 1 per cent, down from 8 point 8 per cent in the year to December, according to CSO figures.
The region with the largest increase was the border, that's Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan and, Monaghan where they went up by 12 point 7 per cent.
In Dublin, prices rose by 7 point 5 per cent, while outside the capital they were up 8 point 6 per cent.
