North West granted over €400,000 in heritage project grants

North West granted over €400,000 in heritage project grants

The North West has today seen over four hundred thousand euro allocated to buildings under the Built Heritage Scheme.

 

The twenty grants for buildings with “historic importance” was approved by the Minister of State at the Department of Housing and Local Government, John Cummins.

In Sligo, over one hundred and sixty thousand euro has been granted to fifteen projects, in County Leitrim over one hundred thousand euro was allocated to four projects and in South Donegal, the department granted over five thousand euro was approved for the Town Clock in Ballyshannon.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Fine Gael Deputy Frank Feighan welcomed the funding, saying it will “help preserve and maintain” the historical buildings.
