A north west NCT centre recorded the second highest fail rate nationally in 2024.
Figures published on the NCT website show that over 79,700 tests took place in the north west last year, with over half of them failing.
Carrick-on-Shannon's NCT Centre fail rate of 10.26% was second only to Cavan.
Letterkenny and Sligo centres also recorded over 13,000 failures in 2024.

While over 7,700 vehicles failed in Donegal Town.
Just under 6,700 vehicles failed dangerously in the north west, with Sligo recording the highest amount at 2,034.
Letterkenny recorded the highest pass rate in the north west at 47.15%, 45.85% was the figure in Donegal Town, 45.54% in Sligo with Carrick-on-Shannon seeing 42.06% passes.
