North west projects receive Heritage Council funding

North west projects receive Heritage Council funding

The Heritage Council has awarded just over €135,500 in funding for heritage projects in the Ocean FM franchise area under its Community Heritage Grants Scheme.

 

The aim of this annual grants scheme is to support projects that improve access and inclusion to heritage sites and that apply good heritage practice to the management of places, collections, objects and buildings.

Kilcar Heritage Committee and The Follies Trust have both received €25,000 for conservation works to St. Matthew’s Church in Kilcar and Reynold’s Folly respectively.

 

Inver Heritage Group has also been allocated €25,000 for conservation works to St. Naul’s Church.

€7,813 has been allocated for the Donegal Railway Interactive Map at Donegal Railway Heritage Museum.

 

Under the scheme for this year, North Leitrim Women’s Centre is to get €21,550 for Phase 3 of the Leitrim Women Through Time which aims to record participant oral histories through video.

 

Moygara Castle Conservation is to receive €22,912 for an access plan to ensure appropriate and sustainable access to the historical and culturally significant built heritage site.

 

€765 is to go towards the digitising of a collection of 450 slides with views of the monuments of the county in 1950's and 60's at Sligo Folk Club while Sligo Masonic Hall Conservation Survey will receive €7,500.
