North west sees increase of homelessness in November

North west sees increase of homelessness in November

There was an increase in homelessness across the north west in November.

The figures come from the latest homeless report from the Department of Housing.

The numbers focus on the number of adults who accessed emergency accommodation during the week of the 18th-24th of last month.

Across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, there were 156 people reported as homeless, an increase of 17 on October's report.

72 were in Sligo, 62 in Donegal, while in Leitrim there were 15- this accounts for 1% of the national total.

107 of the 156 homeless were male, 49 were female.

There were 21 families in the north west accessing emergency accommodation during this period- 17 single parent families and 50 total child dependent's.
