The yellow thunderstorm warning for the North West has been upgraded from yellow to orange.
The orange warning will be in place for four counties from 3pm.
It affects Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo with Met Eireann warning of the potential for flash flooding and every difficult travelling conditions.
The forecaster also says there could be damage to power lines.
The warning runs until 9pm - while there's a similar status yellow alert in place for eight counties until the same time.
All five Connacht counties, as well as Donegal, Longford and Cavan, had previously been included in the yellow warning.
