A Sligo councillor says he believes there are plans to challenge the Mother and Baby Homes records legislation that President Michael D Higgins signed into law at the weekend.
Solidarity People Before Profit Councillor Gino O Boyle says he cannot see what has changed since a few months ago when the minister stated that files and records will remain sealed for 30 years.
The legislation transfers a database of 60,000 records, created during a five-year investigation into the homes, to the child and family agency Tusla.
However, the Minister for Children, Roderic o Gorman, claims the new legislation does not seal records for 30 years.
Cllr O'Boyle's late father, Seamie, was brought to Nazareth House in the early months of his life, and Cllr O Boyle and his family have spent decades trying to find information on the earlier months of the late Mr O'Boyle's life.
Cllr O Boyle told Ocean FM News what he believes will happen now.
