OPW advertises for site for new Garda Station in Sligo

OPW advertises for site for new Garda Station in Sligo

The Office of Public Works is now looking for a site or building for a new garda station in Sligo.

Last year, the Garda Representative Association threatened a walk-out from the current garda station in Sligo because of its condition.

Since then, some improvements have been made but the only long-term solution is a new garda station.

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Sean Canney says that because the project is to be undertaken as part of a larger public/private partnership, exact dates and details in relation to construction of the new station are not yet available.

Sligo/Leitrim Fine Gael Deputy Tony McLoughlin says owners of land and buildings who think they may have a suitable site have until February 21st to respond to the OPW:
