Over 1,900 people are waiting for a driving test across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal test centres.
Driving test services resumed on a gradual basis from the 20th of July.
According to Freedom of Information figures, 498 people are waiting for a driving test at the Sligo Town Centre, 398 in Donegal Town, 697 in Letterkenny and a further 361 in Carrick on Shannon.
There are over 50,000 in the queue for a test nationwide with 15 centres having at least 1,000 people waiting.
Centres are currently operating at a reduced capacity due to Covid-19 and this is creating the backlog.
People are being warned by the Road Safety Authority that those who apply for a test now are likely to wait around six months for the appointment.
Road safety campaigner, Alec Lee, is urging learner drivers not to drive unaccompanied while waiting for a test.

RSA representatives say they are putting in place a suite of measures to reduce waiting times.
